This one's pretty scary. Our government representatives are trying to attach a National ID card law onto an Iraq spending bill. It's already passed the house of representatives, it's moving on to the Senate and there's little doubt the idiot in the White House will pass this law, since he's behind it.

The problem? This one's going to have all your pertinent personal information, on an rfid transmittable card. This means anyone can pick up your info if they've got the right reader and access to your card. It means you'll be tracked wherever you go, whatever you buy, whatever you do - by law. This is about as distopian/totalitarian as it gets. What's the card nominally being introduced for? To combat terrorism. If you think for one second this ID card will do anything to limit terrorism, you need to get educated.

This is bad news, very bad news. This sort of thing needs a great amount of public disclosure and discussion - but junior wants to pull a fast one on us all and have the dept. of homeland security gain more unchecked power and resources (that's right it will cost you more tax dollars to support this thing). We've never needed a national id card before, we certainly don't need one now.

I urge you people to do something about it, get off your asses and write your Senators telling them that you don't want this thing snuck through the back door like this. Honestly folks, this is the kind of thing we used to belittle the Soviet Union for.....
